auto_storiesMasik Kalashtami Vrat Katha

Kalashtami marks the manifestation of Kaal Bhairav, the Lord of Time. The story from Shiva Purana narrates a debate between Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva about who was supreme. Lord Brahma, out of pride, spoke mockingly to Lord Shiva. Shiva manifested His fierce form, Bhairav, from His third eye. Bhairav severed Brahma's fifth head which had spoken arrogantly. The head stuck to Bhairav's hand, and He was cursed with Kapala-Vrata (carrying the skull as a bowl until he repented in Kashi). Bhairav's emergence humbled all pride and established the supreme law of Dharma. Worshipping Him on Kalashtami shields devotees from fear of death, evil eye, and bad planetary transits.
