Eat Sargi (traditional pre-dawn meal sent by mother-in-law) before sunrise.
Resolve the fast and spend the day in prayer and reading the Vrat Katha.
In the evening, perform Karwa Puja, placing a clay pot (Karwa) filled with water.
Listen to the legend of Queen Veervati and perform the circle ritual (Thali Batana).
Upon moonrise, view the moon through a sieve, offer Arghya, and take water from husband's hand.
