spaHoli 2026 Puja Vidhi

For Holika Dahan, gather wood and create a bonfire structure with a clay effigy of Holika and Prahlad.

Perform Puja around the bonfire, offering water, raw thread, gram, and flowers.

Circumambulate (Pradakshina) the fire three or seven times, praying for family health.

On the next day, celebrate with colors, offering dry Gulal to elders and deities first.

Prepare special festive foods like Gujiya and Malpua to share with friends.

The story of Holi revolves around the young devotee Prahlad and his demon father Hiranyakashipu. The king wanted everyone to worship him, but Prahlad remained a steadfast devotee of Lord Vishnu. Angry, the king ordered his sister Holika, who was immune to fire, to sit in a blazing fire with Prahlad on her lap. However, due to Prahlad's unshakeable devotion, he emerged unharmed while Holika was burned to ashes. In Braj, Holi is also celebrated to commemorate the eternal love of Lord Krishna and Radha.
